Journaling vs. Affirmations for Overthinking
Journaling externalizes a problem. Affirmations rehearse a chosen statement. That difference makes each technique useful at different moments.
Choose journaling when...
You have several unfinished thoughts, practical tasks, worries you keep rehearsing, or a need to separate controllable actions from uncertainty.
Choose affirmations when...
You already understand the issue and want a short cue such as “I can leave this until morning” or “One thought is not a verdict.”
Combine them in that order
Write first, then end with one realistic sentence. This keeps the affirmation connected to what you actually processed.
