Affirmations for Negative Self-Talk: Keep Them Believable

An affirmation does not have to be grand. A believable statement can be more useful than an extreme claim your mind immediately rejects.

Try process-focused statements

“I can respond to this thought instead of automatically believing it.” “One mistake does not define my ability.” “I can learn what this situation is asking of me.”

Avoid using affirmations to deny reality

If something is genuinely difficult, acknowledge it. “This is hard and I can take one next step” is often more grounded than “Everything is perfect.”
